Breast Cancer Awareness Month
DELTA
in
It's been Over 2 months since I finished radiation. Once the Burns healed I decided to return to work. It's been 10 months off, so I do get exhausted but it is getting better as time goes on. I am so fortunate to be employed by Delta Airlines.
I joined the Delta family in May of 2017. I worked for 6 months on the Ramp and loved it, until I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Delta was absolutely amazing with my situation. They gave me all the time I needed to focus all my energy on the fight.
My husband and all his hard work also made it possible for me to not worry about having to work through treatments.
Sadly because of my mastectomy surgery and developing Lymphedema in my left arm, I am unable to continue on the Ramp. So I transferred departments to SLC airport tkt/gates.
Oh and this is 3 months of hair growth!
Delta is pronominal at generating awareness and raising money for different Research Foundations throughout the year.
But I feel when it comes to October, Delta goes above and beyond to raise awareness and money to help further the research to find a cure for breast cancer.
Some different ways Delta brings awareness in October is:
adding pink to our uniforms.
The Breast Cancer One flight.
Delta's annual "Breast Cancer One" employee survivor flight took to the skies Monday, kicking off the airline's month-long campaign to generate awareness and raise money for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
This year marked Delta's 14th annual survivor flight, which carried more than 140 employee breast cancer survivors and nearly 10 customers on board the airline's iconic pink plane
Since 2005, Delta employees, customers and their friends and families have raised $14.6 million for BCRF, including last year's efforts of $2 million. The collective contributions have funded the vital work of 54 different research projects over the years in the pursuit of eradicating breast cancer.
Delta is also donating 10 percent of all on-board sales directly to BCRF during the month of October for the first time.
BCRF is a nonprofit organization committed to achieving prevention and a cure for breast cancer. BCRF has raised more than half a billion dollars for lifesaving research.
I was not fortunate enough this year to be selected for the breast cancer flight...but there's always next year.
They did however highlight me in their Sky magazine and on Delta's Twitter page.
I have directly benefited from all the research into breast cancer. Now there are different types of breast cancer that are beatable, and I am so thankful for all the awareness and donations that make more research possible.
But prevention is the best...
Dont forget your Mammogram!
On another note...
My sweet cousin invited me to her Breast Cancer Volleyball game at Farmington High to honor all those who are fighting (currently and past). They honored many loved ones at the game and they won on top of that. It was a fun game and reminded me of how important Family is when you have this disease.
I never thought I would be apart of this community of Warrior Women who are so courageous and strong. I have so much respect and love for all the women who continue to fight or who fought the fight to the end.
